The Contemporary Clay Instructors Program teachers are recognised as the "cream" of Australia's Contemporary Clay Artists and Teachers. The CCIP educational program has been operating for 17 years and was created by Jennifer Tattam (Senior Art Clay Silver Instructor, PMC Instructor and Accredited Base Metal Clay Teacher) together with eight experienced, talented and multi skilled artists and teachers. This program is not only unique and comprehensive, it is exciting, covers a wide range of skills and is special!

Lex Sorrentino - Senior Instructor ACT

Lex was our first Training Instructor. She was instrumental in initiating and helping to establish the original CCIProgram in 2006.
This dynamic and exciting contemporary clay artist continues to push the boundaries of what is possible in the contemporary clay world.  Lex is Canberra based. She is a Senior CCIP and Paverpol Instructor, a Diamond Gold Seal NODAAA Member and Organiser, Adult Education Teacher Silver Metal Clay and Polymer Clay CCIT Canberra, Cordinator of the annual Contemporary Craft Retreat, Canberra.
With a combined 27 years of Polymer Clay Sculpting, Metal Clay and Air Dry Clay experience, Lex offers weekly classes and workshops in Polymer Sculpting and Caning, Silver Metal Clay and Air Dy Clay sculpting in Canberra. She also holds regular workshops in Paverpol Garden Sculpture.
Lex began working with and teaching a unique liquefied form of Makin's Air Dry Clay dipped in fabric. The results were spectacular and Makins Clay USA purchased a number of Lex's exquisite sculptures and wall hangings for various trade shows around the USA
She has won numerous awards for her Polymer Clay work including winning the Australian Doll As Art Judges Choice Award - twice!
Lex is proudly self- taught. She credits her early lack of formal instruction and freedom from any preconcieved constraints to her ongoing, uniquely wild and imaginative approach to creativity.  After 27 years, Lex still believes that ignorance can be bliss and that a lack of prior knowledge can be liberating and imaginatively constructive, particularly in a medium as adaptable as clay.
Over many years, Lex's tutorials and inspirational work have featured prominantly in multiple publications both locally and internationally. Australian Publications : Australian Doll and Bear News and Dolls Bears and Collectables, Australian Beading Magazine.   International Publications : Polymer Café, Mixed Media & Steampunk and Passion for Polymer Magazine.
Lex is one of only 3 Australian Artists featured in the prestigious international publication, Polymer Journeys Book 2019.  She also placed second in the International Polymer Clay Society - Sculpture Section in 2022.  In the 2023 IPCA Global Exhibition Lex placed First in 2 dimensional Work and Second in 3 Dimensional Work.
